Southeast Downspout Drainage Installation in Lake Bluff, IL

New concrete walkway installation in Long Grove, IL with a compacted stone base and wire mesh reinforcement before pouring.

This project in Lake Bluff, IL focused on improving drainage at the southeast downspout by extending the existing discharge into an underground PVC drainage system. The work included solid and perforated PVC piping, controlled discharge points, gravel, grates, and lawn restoration to help direct roof runoff away from the home.

Project Goals

  • Improve drainage at the southeast downspout.
  • Extend roof runoff away from the foundation.
  • Provide a durable underground drainage connection.
  • Add controlled discharge points for proper water release.
  • Restore lawn areas disturbed during installation.

Southeast Downspout Drainage Installation

The southeast downspout was connected to approximately 30 linear feet of solid 4-inch PVC piping to convey roof runoff away from the foundation.

At the end of the drainage run, an additional 5 feet of perforated 4-inch PVC was installed to help disperse collected water into the surrounding drainage area.

The system was completed with T-fittings, grate covers, and gravel to provide controlled water release and convenient access for maintenance.

Lawn Restoration

Following the drainage installation, disturbed lawn areas were restored with new sod to return the property to a clean and finished condition.

Why Downspout Drainage Matters

Properly managing roof runoff helps reduce water accumulation around the foundation and improves drainage performance throughout the property.

An underground PVC system provides a controlled path for downspout water while helping keep excess runoff away from the home’s foundation and surrounding landscape.
