This project in Inverness, IL involved a complete exterior renovation that replaced aging brick pavers, upgraded the home’s concrete hardscape, rebuilt a retaining wall, and restored the surrounding landscape. The goal was to improve safety, functionality, curb appeal, and long-term durability while creating a cohesive outdoor space from the front entrance to the backyard.

- Replace aging brick pavers with new concrete surfaces.
- Construct new front and rear concrete stoops.
- Install a new concrete patio and walkways.

- Concrete Driveway, Walkway, and Patio Installation
The existing brick paver driveway, walkways, front stoop, and rear wood deck were removed to make way for new concrete hardscape.
A new expanded front stoop was constructed to create a more welcoming entrance, while a new rear stoop, connecting walkway, and rectangular concrete patio improved access and outdoor living space.
More than 1,700 square feet of new concrete flatwork was installed, including the driveway, front walkway, backyard walkways, patio, and stoops.
Each concrete surface was built on a properly compacted stone base using reinforced 4,000 PSI concrete with Fibermesh reinforcement, steel rebar, control joints, expansion joints, and a brushed finish for long-term durability.
Decorative Concrete Border Installation
To enhance the appearance of the new concrete, Edens 4×4 Tumbled Pavers were installed as decorative borders along the walkways, driveway, patio, and driveway apron.
These decorative accents help define the hardscape while adding character and complementing the overall landscape design.
Retaining Wall Reconstruction
The existing flagstone retaining wall along the west side of the driveway was removed and rebuilt using Unilock Pisa II Smooth wall blocks.
The new retaining wall provides improved structural support while creating a clean, updated appearance that complements the surrounding hardscape.
Landscape Restoration and Planting
Following construction, all disturbed lawn areas were restored with premium grass seed and compost to promote healthy turf establishment.
The landscape was refreshed with Green Velvet Boxwoods, Millennium Allium, Climbing Hydrangeas, and Pachysandra to soften the new hardscape and provide year-round color and texture.
Fresh hardwood mulch was installed throughout the planting beds to complete the finished landscape.
